Shudo-ji Temple

Japanese: 修徳寺 - しゅうとくじ

Located in Deoksan-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea, it was founded by Monk Jimyung in the first year of the Baekje era (599). The temple complex stands on three high platforms, and the five-story stone pagoda on the lower platform was built in the fifth year of the Silla era under King Munmu (665). The upper platform's Daeungjeon Hall was built in the 34th year of the Goryeo era under King Chungnyeol (1308) and is a single-story gabled Buddhist hall with three bays across and four beams. Its structure and style are similar to those of the Muryojuden Hall at Buseoksa Temple, but it is more elegant with curved joint beams, the first use of flower plates on the beams, and wave and lotus patterns, grass carvings, and ornate carvings on the joint beams and corbels.

韓国，忠清南道礼山郡徳山面にあり，百済法王1年(599)智明大師の創建になる。伽藍は3段の高壇上に建ち，下壇の石造五層塔は新羅の文武王5年(665)の造立である。上壇の大雄殿は高麗忠烈王34年(1308)の創立になり，桁行3間，梁間4間，切妻造の単層仏殿で，構造･形式は浮石寺の無量寿殿と似るが，湾曲した繫肘木（つなぎひじき）や，梁上に初めて華盤を用い，肘木木口や持送りなどの波蓮文，草刻文と華麗な彫刻に華やかさを増す。
