Morris rejected these trends as bringing about a decline in the quality of books, and with the help of Emery Walker (1851-1933), he established the Kelmscott Press. Although it was a small-scale press that was mainly done by hand, it produced timeless and carefully selected works that could be said to be an expression of medieval aesthetics, in stark contrast to the shoddy mass production that is the characteristic and drawback of modern commercialism.
