Ueno Hachiroemon

Japanese: 上野八郎右衛門 - うえのはちろうえもん

1877-1939 A fisherman from the Meiji to early Showa period.
Born December 10, 1877. The son of a fishing boss in Ao Village (Himi City), Toyama Prefecture. In 1912, he made improvements to the Hidaka-style Buri Daimo-ami and invented the Ueno-style Buri Daishiki-ami, which became the prototype for the Etchu-style Buri Daimo-ami. He was the mayor of Ao Village and a member of the prefectural assembly. He also served as chairman of the prefectural fisheries association. He passed away on August 13, 1939. He was 63 years old. His childhood name was Hattaro.

明治10年12月10日生まれ。家は富山県阿尾村(氷見市)の網元。大正元年日高式ブリ大謀網に改良をくわえ,上野式ブリ大敷網を考案。越中式ブリ大謀網の原型となった。阿尾村長,県会議員。県の水産会長もつとめた。昭和14年8月13日死去。63歳。幼名は八太郎。
