Uiro mochi - Uiro mochi

The image of the peddler is even incorporated into Kabuki as Uirouri. The confectionery Uiro is also called Uiro mochi. It is a type of steamed stick-shaped confectionery made from non-glutinous rice flour, glutinous rice flour, brown sugar, and kuzuko starch. There is a theory that the recipe was passed down to confectioners in Kyoto by the Uiro family, but as the Wakan Sansai Zue states, it is thought that the name comes from the fact that the color resembles tochokou....
