…When the Yuan Dynasty fell, the Chin family (known as Muneyoshi, Ensuke, or Junzu, but unknown), who was a member of the Ministry of Rites, fled to Japan and lived in Hakata. A man of many talents, he was especially knowledgeable about medicine, so Yoshimitsu Ashikaga asked him to come to Kyoto, but he refused. His son (Muneki or Otonashi) moved to Kyoto, and the family continued to work as doctors for generations, becoming known as the Uiro family. They also produced medicines such as Tochinko. According to the Shinjiki from Choroku 2 and other sources, it was customary for the Uiro family to meet the Shogun on January 7th and December 27th every year and present them with medicines. …

…元朝が滅びたとき，礼部員外郎であった陳氏(宗敬，延祐，順祖などの名が伝えられるが，不詳)が日本へ亡命してきて博多に住んだ。多才な人で，とくに薬方にくわしかったため，足利義満は上洛を求めたが応ぜず，その子(宗奇，あるいは大年)が京都に移り住み，以後代々医を業として外郎家と呼ばれ，透頂香（とうちんこう）などの薬をも製した。《長禄二年以来申次記》などによれば，外郎家では毎年1月7日，12月27日に将軍に謁し，薬を献上する慣例であった。…
