pipette

A general term for a relatively simple glass instrument that accurately dispenses a fixed volume of liquid or gas and transfers it to another container. The most common type is a 1-100 mL glass tube with a single bulge in the middle, called a single-cell pipette. Additionally, a Mohr pipette or graduated pipette is one with graduated marks on the glass tube so that any volume of liquid can be dispensed. In both cases, the volume of the solution that flows out is indicated. Those for gas are called gas pipettes. Ultra-micropipettes that can dispense volumes up to about ^10-4 mL ^-1 , similar to an injection method, are also sold.

一定体積の液体，あるいは気体を正確に分取し，これをほかの容器に移し取る比較的簡単なガラス器具の総称．もっとも普通のものは，ガラス管の中央部に一つの膨らみをもった1～100 mL のもので，単球ピペットという．また，任意体積の液体を取り出すことのできるように，ガラス管に目盛のついたものをモールピペットまたはメスピペットという．いずれも，流出した溶液の体積が示されている．気体用のものはガスピペットとよばれる．また，注射方式の 10^－4 mL^－1 程度までの体積を流出させる超微量ピペットも販売されている．
