...Products from the largest pottery region in the Chugoku region, mainly produced in Bizen City (formerly Ibe Village) in the southeastern part of Okayama Prefecture. Although it is commonly called Ibe ware, strictly speaking, since the Keicho period (1596-1615), thin, dark brown ware made with fine elutriated clay and coated with clay has been called Ibe-te, and Bizen ware is a general term for Kuni-yaki in the broad sense. Its origins lie in the Sueki kilns (Oku ancient kiln sites) that have been established in Oku-cho, Osafune-cho, and Ushimado-cho in Oku County since the 6th century. ...
