Centripetal hypertrophy

… refers to the thickening and enlargement of the myocardium in the walls of the heart, especially the ventricles. Depending on the area where hypertrophy is primarily observed, there are various types, such as atrial hypertrophy, right ventricular hypertrophy, left ventricular hypertrophy, septal hypertrophy, and biventricular hypertrophy. When hypertrophy occurs toward the inner cavity and does not increase in volume, it is called centripetal hypertrophy, and when the volume increases along with the thickening of the wall and is accompanied by cardiac dilation, it is called eccentric hypertrophy. When hypertrophy occurs, the trabeculae and papillary muscles also thicken, so the weight of the heart also increases. In severe cases, the thickness of the heart wall can reach three times the normal thickness and the weight can reach four times the normal thickness. …
