Thunder that occurs in winter. It is mostly caused by cold fronts. It is more common on the Sea of Japan side, and thunder that occurs before snow falls is called "snow origin." When strong cold air enters the sky, cumulonimbus clouds tend to develop, and even if there is no thunder, the clouds on the Sea of Japan side during heavy snowfall are often cumulonimbus clouds. 冬に鳴る雷。ほとんど寒冷前線によって起こる。日本海側に多く,雪の降る前に鳴る雷を〈雪起し〉と呼んだりする。上空に強い寒気が進入してくると積乱雲が発達しやすく,雷を伴わなくても,大雪のときの日本海側の雲は積乱雲であることが多い。
