Frisia Islands (English spelling)

Frisia Islands (English spelling)
A group of islands along the northern coast of continental Europe from the northern part of the Netherlands to the southern part of Denmark. It consists of three parts: the West Frisian Islands (Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland, etc.) in the Netherlands, the East Frisian Islands (Borkum, Juist, Norderney, etc.) in Germany, and the North Frisian Islands (Jurt, Veer, etc. in Germany, Fanoe, Remee, etc. in Denmark). The East and West Frisian Islands were originally sand dunes that were separated from the mainland by a sea rise in historic times, and the North Sea side continues to change shape even today due to strong westerly winds and waves.
