...The works of H. Bosco, who sublimated the essence of the southern French climate to create a unique fantasy, are also not to be missed.
[Germany]
In Germany, the first was JHCompe, which published the "Little Children's Library" in 1776 in response to JB Basedow's initiative, and a little later, GA Bürger published "The Adventures of Baron Münchhausen (The Tales of Münchhausen)" in 1786, which was an edited version of RE Raspe's work. The Romantics following Goethe began to collect folk tales. The fruits of this work were Brentano and A. von Arnim's "The Magic Flute of the Boy" and the Brothers Grimm's "Fairy Tales for Children and the Home".

From the Münchhausen Story

...In the 18th century, there was a German aristocrat named Hieronymus Karl Friedrich Freiherr von Münchhausen (1720-97) who loved hunting and was good at telling great stories. The first-person protagonist of "The Tales of Munchausen" is based on this man, and in a good mood he recounts tall tales of hunting and travel, great tales, and fantastic adventures to his friends. Although much of the material is folklore, it was the exiled German Rudolf Erich Raspe (1737-94) who compiled the fragmentary anecdotes and first linked them to the name of Munchausen and published an English version (first published in 1785). It was Bürger who translated the second edition, which included adaptations of excerpts from Lucian's "True Stories," into German and added his own touches, turning it into a classic masterpiece of witty and satirical tall tales ("The Wunderbare Reisen zu Wasser und zu Lande, Feldzüge und lustige Abenteuer des Freiherrn von Münchhausen," first published in 1786).
