Indoor hockey

Japanese: インドアホッケー(英語表記)indoor hockey
Indoor hockey
Hockey played in indoor arenas. It corresponds to the outdoor hockey called field hockey. It started in Europe around 1955, and championship tournaments have been held in Japan since 1966. Two teams of six players (one goalkeeper) control the ball with a stick and try to score the most points within a certain time. The arena is rectangular with 36-44m sidelines and 18-22m backlines, and the floor is made of wood or linoleum. The game lasts for 15-20 minutes for each half. Unlike field hockey, players are not allowed to hit the ball (hit) except when aiming for the goal, and players are allowed to push the ball out with the stick (push) or lightly scoop the ball by putting the stick under it (scoop).
