Kadkhudā (English spelling)

The head of a family or village in Iran. The modern Persian form of the compound word of the Middle Persian words kadag (family) and khwaday (ruler). From its original meaning of head of a family, it later came to refer to the head of a village or a local official, and now refers to a village head in the administrative sense. イランにおける家長あるいは村長。中世ペルシア語のカダグ kadag (家) とフワダーイ khwadāy (君主) の複合語の近世ペルシア語形。本来の家長の意から転じて，のちには村落の長や地方の役人をもさすようになり，現在は行政的な意味での村長をいう。
