Abū al-Maāsin Azraqī (English spelling)

Persian poet. Born in Herat, his father was a bookstore owner, and his anecdote with Firdousi is well-known. He was a famous poet in the early Seljuk period, and served the Shah of Khorasan and the Kerman Seljuk dynasty. He was a prolific poet, and his Anthology of Poems of Azraki, consisting of about 2,700 verses, is mainly composed of odes. He excelled in descriptions of nature and was known for his unique metaphors, making him an excellent ode poet who always appears in biographies of Persian poets.

ペルシアの詩人。ヘラート出身で父は書店を営み、フィルドウスィーとの逸話は名高い。セルジューク朝初期の著名な詩人で、同朝のホラサーン太守やケルマン・セルジューク朝に仕えた。寡作な詩人で約2700句からなる『アズラキー詩集』は、頌詩(しょうし)が主体である。自然描写に優れ、独特の比喩(ひゆ)で知られ、ペルシア詩人伝にはかならず登場する優れた頌詩詩人である。
