The movement to improve labor productivity began in the Soviet Union in 1935 during the Second Five-Year Plan. It had an impact on the lives of the entire nation. In August 1935, Alexei Stakhanov, a coal miner in the Donbass mine, mined 14 times the quota of 7 tons of coal in one shift, thanks to his socialist passion and the introduction of new technology. This incident triggered the spread of this movement to all sectors of industry, transportation, construction, and agriculture, and exemplary workers were celebrated as labor heroes. It is said that labor productivity increased by 82% during the Second Five-Year Plan. However, this movement provoked opposition from ordinary workers, who faced increased workloads, and from managers who were tasked with improving productivity, and various confusions arose on the ground.
