Tadashi Iwamoto
1869-1941 A philosopher from the Meiji to early Showa period.
Born May 3, 1869. Older brother of Iwa Genroku. Studied under Koeber. After working as a lecturer at the Higher Normal School, he became a professor at First Higher School, teaching philosophy and German. Known as a famous professor, he is said to have been the model for Professor Hirota in Natsume Soseki's Sanshiro. Died July 14, 1941. Age 73. Born in Satsuma (Kagoshima Prefecture). Graduated from Imperial University.

明治2年5月3日生まれ。岩元禄の兄。ケーベルにまなぶ。高等師範学校講師をへて一高教授となり,哲学とドイツ語をおしえる。名物教授として知られ,夏目漱石(そうせき)の「三四郎」の広田先生のモデルといわれる。昭和16年7月14日死去。73歳。薩摩(さつま)(鹿児島県)出身。帝国大学卒。
