[Usage] Kangaeru (think) and omou (thinking ) are both words that express mental activity, but "kangaeru" (thinking) is to analyze intellectually, while "omou" (thinking) is used to express the emotional and sensory workings of the mind and instantaneous judgments. We say "think about the answer to the quiz," but do not say "omou" (think). ◇When you hear a loud noise, you would immediately say "I thought lightning had struck," not "I thought." ◇ "Thinking about her" expresses longing or worry, but "thinking of her" expresses a more analytical and rational way of thinking about the situation. "I'm thinking about becoming a doctor in the future" is a plan that includes specific steps, whereas "omou" gives the impression of only a vague hope.
[Synonyms] think, ponder, Think Obo To call or believe
