A large annelid of the family Pheretidae of the class Oligochaeta. It was collected in Japan by P.F. von Siebold, and the specimen was published by R. Horst in 1883, and was named after Siebold. It is distributed from central Honshu southward, Shikoku, and Kyushu, and lives in mountainous areas. It is commonly called Yamamizu. The largest individual to date is 45 cm long, 1.5 cm thick, and 43 g. It is dark blue-black in color, and during reproduction, an annulus appears on the 14th to 16th segments. There are no dorsal holes or setae on the annulus. The female genital pore is located in the center of the ventral surface of the 14th segment, and a pair of male genital pores are located on both sides of the ventral surface of the 18th segment. 貧毛綱フトミミズ科の環形動物。大型な種類。P.F.vonシーボルトが日本で採集し,この標本をホーストR.Horstが1883年に発表した際にシーボルトに献名したものである。本州中部以南,四国,九州に分布し,山地に生息する。俗称ヤマミミズ。現在までの最大の個体は体長45cm,太さ1.5cm,43gである。濃い青黒色をしていて生殖時には第14~16体節に環帯が生ずる。環帯上には背孔や剛毛はない。雌性生殖孔は第14体節の腹面中央に,雄性生殖孔は第18体節の腹面両側に1対存在している。
