At shrines, it is called a Miya-daiko, and at temples, depending on the sect, it is called a Hotto-ku, but in Kabuki it is called an O-daiko, or simply a Taiko. A similar small drum used on a turret is called a Yagura-daiko, and those with a special sound are also called Kankara-daiko, and when they are touched and walked around town, they are also called Tsuke-daiko.
