In a party of two or three climbers, both ends of a rope (climbing rope) are attached to each other's body harness (anzain) to avoid the risk of falling, and they usually climb in alternating periods (staccato climbing), taking turns to secure (belay or sicher) their climbing partner while moving forward. …
