...In this way, inside a distillation tower, liquid falls from above and vapor rises from below, resulting in gas-liquid contact. The liquid returned to the tower (reflux liquid) is simply called reflux, and the ratio L / D of the amount of reflux L to the amount of distillate D is called the reflux ratio. There are total and partial condensers in condensers. In total condensers, all the vapor from the top of the tower is condensed into liquid, but in partial condensers, some is taken out as vapor or gas, and some is liquefied and used as reflux.
