...The annual festival is held on the first day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. It is called "Iwakisan-mairi" or "Oyama-sande" and involves visiting the shrine in white clothing and carrying a sacred wand, then ascending to the inner shrine at the top of the mountain while beating flutes and drums and chanting.
