Clothing ticket - clothing ticket

These were clothing rationing tickets, implemented in 1942 (Showa 17) during World War II due to shortages of materials. Unlike other rationing schemes, a detailed points system was created because the consumption and necessity of fabric varied by item. The ticket was valid for one year. The number of necessities such as flannel, bleached cloth, hand towels, and socks that could be purchased was limited by the attached small limit ticket, so even if people had extra points, they could not purchase those items. The allocation for each person was 100 points in urban areas and 80 points in rural areas, and the item points in 1943, for example, were 12 shirts (including dress shirts), 4 sarumata (loincloths), and 1 pair of socks, so if they purchased 4 each of dress shirts, underwear, socks, and sarumata, it was already inconvenient to exceed the limit. Moreover, at the same time as the clothing coupon system was implemented, retail stores were merged and abolished, and as the war situation loomed, the supply to stores became extremely small, so even if there were coupons, they could not actually be purchased. This clothing coupon system continued after the war until 1950 (Showa 25), when the clothing production situation improved.
