1575?-1650? A historian of colonial Mexico. A descendant of the royal family of Texcoco. He completed the seven liberal arts, entered the government and held various local positions, and was also skilled in poetry. Fascinated by the history of his ancestors' land of Texcoco, he researched and deciphered indigenous picture documents (codexes), and wrote "History of the Chichimeca" around 1648. The story begins with the creation of the world and extends to the conquests, and in particular the deeds and poetry of his great-great-grandfather, the poet-king Nezahualcoyotl, were passed down to posterity through his pen.
