Kachapi - Kachapi (English spelling) kacapi

Japanese: カチャピ - かちゃぴ(英語表記)kacapi
Kachapi - Kachapi (English spelling) kacapi

A type of Indonesian stringed instrument, also called kěcapi. There are two types:

(1) A plucked instrument of the zither family from the Sunda (West Java) region. Seven to 24 metal strings are stretched around a wooden boat-shaped body, and are tuned using pegs on the side of the body and a movable bridge (pillar) set up on the soundboard. It is played with a soft peg rather than a wooden peg. In addition to this boat-shaped instrument (two types, large and small), there is also a portable box-shaped instrument, both of which are widely used for accompanying singing and in instrumental ensembles.

(2) A plucked string instrument of the lute family found in Sumatra, Sulawesi (Celebes), Borneo, etc. Usually with one or two strings. This species is widely distributed in Thailand, Cambodia, etc. with slight changes in name and shape.
