A Chinese official in the reign of Emperor Taizong and Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty. A native of Qingping (Linqing, Shandong Province). He excelled in Yin Yang, Fangji, music, and other subjects, and was appointed as a scholar at the Hongwenguan on the recommendation of Wei Zheng and others. He became a Taichang doctor and compiled 53 volumes of the Book of Yin Yang, and created the Map of the Fangs and the Map of the Teaching of Flying Cavalry and Battle Formations. During the reign of Emperor Gaozong, he was involved in the compilation of the Wen Si Bo Yao and the Ledgeru of the Family Names, and in 659 (the 4th year of Xianqing), together with Xu Jingzong, head of the Secretariat of the Central Book of China, revised the Annotated Compendium of the Classic of Materia Medica by Tao Hongjing, adding illustrations and bringing the total to 54 volumes. This is the New Revised Compendium of Materia Medica. He later became the Prince's Office's General Manager, and wrote the 20-volume Record of the Sui Dynasty.

中国,唐太宗・高宗朝の官僚。清平(山東省臨清市)の人。陰陽,方伎,音曲等にすぐれ,魏徴らの推挙により弘文館学士に任じられ,太常博士となり陰陽書53巻を編録,《方域図》《教飛騎戦陣図》を作った。高宗のとき《文思博要》《姓氏録》の編纂にたずさわり,さらに659年(顕慶4),中書令許敬宗らと陶弘景撰《本草経集注》の改定を行い図を加え54巻とした。これが《新修本草》である。のち太子司更丈天となり《隋記》20巻を著した。
