Vasiliy Ivanovich Kachalov

A Russian and Soviet actor. His real name was Shverubovich. While studying law at St. Petersburg University, he appeared on stage in a student play, where his talent was recognized and he became a professional actor. He first performed on stage in provincial theatres such as Kazan and Saratov, and in the spring of 1900 he joined the Moscow Art Theatre. He played 55 important roles, including Tuzenbakh in Three Sisters, Ivanov in Ivanov, Trofimov in The Cherry Orchard, the Baron in The Lower Depths, and the commentator in Resurrection.

ロシア・ソ連の俳優。本名はシベルボビチШверубович/Shverubovich。ペテルブルグ大学法学部在学中に学生演劇の舞台に立ち、才能を認められ職業俳優になる。初めカザン、サラトフなど地方で舞台に立ち、1900年春からモスクワ芸術座に加わった。『三人姉妹』のトゥーゼンバフ、『イワーノフ』のイワーノフ、『桜の園』のトロフィーモフ、『どん底』の男爵、『復活』の解説者など55の重要な役柄で活躍した。
