One of the cases reported by S. Freud in Studies on Hysteria (1895). Amy was a 40-year-old widow from central Germany who suffered from occasional bouts of delirium and sleepwalking, pain and anesthesia in her limbs, stuttering and clicking of the tongue, and a fear of toads and thunder. Freud treated her with the same cathartic hypnotic technique that his friend J. Breuer had used on Anna O. After about seven weeks of treatment, her symptoms disappeared, but she began to resent Freud for downplaying the condition of her daughter, who was also a hysteric sufferer, and her symptoms worsened again.

S.フロイトによって，《ヒステリー研究》(1895)中で報告された症例の一つ。エミーは，中部ドイツ出身の40歳になる未亡人であったが，ときおり襲う譫妄（せんもう）状態と夢遊状態，四肢の疼痛や知覚脱失，どもりや舌打ち，蟇（がま）恐怖と雷恐怖などの症状に悩んでいた。フロイトは彼女に対して，友人のJ.ブロイアーがアンナ･Oに行ったと同じ催眠浄化法による治療を行った。約7週間の治療の後，症状は消失したが，やはりヒステリーだった娘の病状を軽視したフロイトに反感を抱いたのを契機に，エミーの症状は再び悪化してしまう。
