Mount Daruma

A mountain in the northwest of the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is 982 meters above sea level. It is located on the border between Heda, Numazu City and Izu City. It is a volcano that was active in the Pleistocene (Pleistocene) and is said to be a shield volcano that spilled pyroxene andesite lava. The crater is thought to be in the southeast of Shinden along the Toda Okawa River. The northern slope faces Uchiura Bay at the back of Suruga Bay from Nishiura, Numazu City, and the gentle slope is a mandarin orange orchard. The western slope is being dismantled and faces Suruga Bay with steep sea cliffs, but it is home to Toda Port, surrounded by Mihama Cape. The southern part borders Tanaba Volcano south of Funawara Pass, and the eastern slope remains a gentle plain and borders the Kano River lowlands. The Nishiizu Skyline, which connects Toda Pass and Funawara Pass, passes along the ridgeline, and the views of Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps, Suruga Bay, and more from the summit are outstanding.

静岡県、伊豆半島北西部にある山。標高982メートル。沼津市戸田(へだ)と伊豆市の境界に位置する。更新世（洪積世）に活動した火山で、輝石安山岩質溶岩を流出させた楯状(たてじょう)火山といわれる。火口は戸田大川沿いの新田南東部と考えられている。北斜面は沼津市西浦から駿河(するが)湾奥の内浦湾に面し、緩斜面はミカン園となっている。西斜面は解体が進み、急な海食崖(がい)をもって駿河湾に臨むが、御浜(みはま)岬で囲まれる戸田港がある。南部は船原峠以南の棚場火山(たなばかざん)に接し、東斜面は緩やかな原面が残り、狩野(かの)川低地に接する。戸田峠と船原峠を結ぶ西伊豆スカイラインが稜線(りょうせん)部を通り、山頂からの富士、南アルプス、駿河湾などの展望は優れている。
