...During the Edo period, this hereditary family was at the forefront of local experts and played an active role as Kanto district governors and deputies. Descended from the Seiwa Genji clan, they were originally called Togazaki and Arakawa, but under the 7th head of the family, Yasuuji, they lived in Ina district in Shinano province, and under his grandson Yasutsugu, they adopted the surname Ina. Later, Yasutsugu left Shinano and wandered the Tokai region, and his son Tadamoto served Matsudaira Hirotada and Tokugawa Ieyasu, father and son, and became a local lord with Kojima Castle in Mikawa province (Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture) as his residence. The line of the eldest son, Sadamasa, died out, but the line of the eldest son, Tadaie, flourished, and after the Tokugawa clan entered Kanto, his eldest son, Ina Tadatsugu, joined Ieyasu's close aides as deputy governor, playing a central role in governing the Kanto domain. ...
