Anamorphic Lens

A cylindrical auxiliary lens used in Cinemascope, etc. When shooting, this lens compresses the image horizontally by about half, and when projecting, the same type of lens is used to expand the image in the opposite direction to create the correct image. シネマスコープなどに用いられる円筒形の補助レンズ。撮影の際にはこのレンズで水平方向のみを約２分の１圧縮し，映写の際には同種レンズで逆に伸長して正しい画像にする。35mm標準フィルムを用いて左右の広がったワイド・スクリーン画面を得ることができる。
