Shijo Miyashita - Shijo Miyashita

Dates of birth and death unknown. A female poet of the mid-Heian period. Daughter of Shimotsuke no Kami Minamoto no Masataka. Her mother is unknown. In 1050 (Eisho 5), when Kanpaku Fujiwara no Yorimichi's daughter Kanshi (Shijo no Miya) entered the court of Emperor Goreizei, she served in the harem. In 1068 (Jiraku 4), the emperor passed away, and shortly after Empress Kanshi became a nun, she became a nun, and in her later years, she seems to have retired to Rakugai. During this time, she was active in the harem poetry circles, centered around Kanshi and Princess Baishi of Rokujo Saiin, who were under Yorimichi's careful protection, and she also had connections with the Waka Roppongi, including Norinaga, Tsunehira, and Yoriie. At the height of his maturity, he displayed his talent in the poetry world of the Later Reizei court, and one of his personal anthologies is the "Shijonomiya Shimotsukeshu."

生没年未詳。平安中期の女流歌人。下野守(しもつけのかみ)源政隆の娘。母は未詳。1050年（永承5）関白藤原頼通(よりみち)の娘寛子（四条宮）が後冷泉(ごれいぜい)天皇に入内(じゅだい)するに際して、その後宮に出仕。1068年（治暦4）天皇崩御、中宮寛子落飾に接してまもなく出家、晩年は洛外(らくがい)に隠棲(いんせい)したらしい。この間、頼通の手厚い庇護(ひご)の下にあった寛子や六条斎院禖子(ばいし)内親王などを中心とした後宮歌壇で活躍、範永(のりなが)、経衡(つねひら)、頼家ら和歌六人党とも交流をもった。爛熟(らんじゅく)した後冷泉朝歌壇に才気を示し、家集に『四条宮下野集』がある。
