Born June 15, 1809 in Quebec Died February 3, 1866. A historian of French-Canadian Quebec. While working as a notary and translator, he wrote a magnum opus, Histoire du Canada (3 volumes, 1845-48), which contributed greatly to reviving the pride of French-Canadians as a people.
