Born: 1791 (Kansei 3) [Died] 1859 (6th year of the Ansei Era) Kabuki actor. Stage name: Narita-ya. A disciple and grandson of Ichikawa Danjuro V. A representative actor of the late Edo period. Small in stature, with large eyes, excellent voice and eloquence, and a wide range of performances. Created the 18 Kabuki plays. In 1842, he was exiled from Edo for extravagance that went against the spirit of the Tenpo Reforms, and toured Osaka, Kyoto, and other areas until he was pardoned in 1849.
