1411‐63 (Oei 18‐Kansho 4) Wife of Ashikaga Yoshinori, the 6th Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate. Daughter of Hino Shigemitsu. Mother of the 7th Shogun Yoshikatsu and the 8th Shogun Yoshimasa. Commonly known as Okatadono. Married Yoshinori in 1428 (Shocho 1). After Yoshinori was assassinated by Akamatsu Mitsusuke in 1441 (Kakitsu 1), Yoshimasa became Shogun after Yoshikatsu, but as the mother of these two young Shoguns, she played an important role in intervening in Shogunate politics. In 1451 (Houtoku 3), she famously came into conflict with Yoshimasa's aide, Imamai-no-Tsune, over an internal dispute with the Oda clan, the deputy governor of Owari Province, and forced Imamai-no-Tsune to promise not to interfere in political affairs in the future.
