Ishisankokyo - The Three Great Mirrors

...The Panlong mirror depicts a dragon lurking within the interior, and can be of single animal, double-headed, three-headed, or four-headed variety. The Izhi and San Gong mirror has a dragon-phoenix double-headed motif as its main text, and has inscriptions of "Izhi" or "Sangong" or sometimes "King Yi" or "High Official" on the top and bottom of the knob. It was used in northern China from the end of the Later Han to the first half of the Six Dynasties. The Divine Animal Mirror appeared in the middle of the Later Han, became popular during the Three Kingdoms and Western Jin periods, and continued to be used until the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and has its background in the Taoist beliefs that were popular among the people at the time....
