Orofure Pass - Orofure Pass

A pass on the border between Noboribetsu City and Sobetsu Town in southwest Hokkaido. It is 940m above sea level. The name comes from the Ainu word Orofure (meaning red water) River. Located southwest of Mount Orofure (1231m), it is one of the most scenic spots in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, with a panoramic view of Lake Toya, the Pacific Ocean, Lake Kuttara, Mount Tarumae, and Mount Yotei from the observation deck. It is on the tourist route connecting the Noboribetsu and Lake Toya hot springs.

北海道南西部，登別市と壮瞥 (そうべつ) 町の境をなす峠。標高 940m。地名はアイヌ語のオロフレ (水の中が赤い意) 川に由来。オロフレ山 (1231m) 南西方に位置し，展望台から洞爺湖，太平洋，倶多楽 (くったら) 湖，樽前山，羊蹄山などを一望できる支笏洞爺国立公園有数の景勝地。登別，洞爺湖両温泉を結ぶ観光ルート上にある。
