Japanese: ナンヨウアブラギリ - なんようあぶらぎり

A small tree of the Euphorbiaceae family native to tropical America. Also known as Taiwan tallow tree. English names include physic nut, Barbados nut, and purging nut. Widely distributed in the tropical regions of the world, either cultivated or semi-wild. 2-5m tall. The leaves are alternate, broadly ovate, cordate at the base, and have 3-5 shallow lobes. The leaf blade is 10-20cm long and has a long petiole. It resembles the leaves of tallow tree, but it is a different genus. When cut, it exudes a poisonous milky fluid. It is monoecious, with male and female flowers. The flowers are small and yellow-green, and many of them grow in racemes near the top of the stem.
