Born in Tensho 10. Second son of Okubo Tadachika. By order of Tokugawa Ieyasu, he was adopted by his maternal grandfather Ishikawa Ienari, and in 1611 became the lord of Ogaki Domain in Mino for three generations. In 1616, he was imprisoned in Sunpu due to the abolition of his father Tadachika's title, but was pardoned because of his Ishikawa family name, and distinguished himself in the Siege of Osaka. He was given increased stipends, and became the lord of Hita Domain in Bungo and Sakura Domain in Shimousa, before becoming the first lord of Zeze Domain in Omi in 1620. 70,000 koku.
