Born May 10, 1927. After working as an assistant professor at the Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo, he became a professor at Okinawa University in 1973. He served as president of Okinawa University from 1978 to 1980. He later became a professor at Osaka Prefecture University. He specialized in early modern history. His research into the Taiko land survey sparked a debate on the periodization of Japanese history. He passed away on April 12, 1993, at the age of 65. He was born in Tokyo and graduated from the University of Tokyo. His works include "The Establishment and Structure of the Shogunate-Han System Society" and "A New Theory of Okinawa History."
