A former town in Onuma District, in the mid-west of Fukushima Prefecture. The northern part is part of the Aizu Basin, and the southern part is mountainous. It produces rice, vegetables, and flowers. Hongo, the center of the town, is on the Tadami Line and is a specialty of Aizu Hongo ware, with a particular focus on insulators. In October 2005, it merged with Aizu Takada Town and Niitsuru Village in Onuma District to become Aizu Misato Town, Onuma District. Area: 40.14 km2 . Population: 6,704 (2003).
