Aizu Hongo [town] - Aizu Hongo

Japanese: 会津本郷[町] - あいづほんごう

A former town in Onuma District, in the mid-west of Fukushima Prefecture. The northern part is part of the Aizu Basin, and the southern part is mountainous. It produces rice, vegetables, and flowers. Hongo, the center of the town, is on the Tadami Line and is a specialty of Aizu Hongo ware, with a particular focus on insulators. In October 2005, it merged with Aizu Takada Town and Niitsuru Village in Onuma District to become Aizu Misato Town, Onuma District. Area: ^{40.14 km2} . Population: 6,704 (2003).

福島県中西部，大沼郡の旧町。北部は会津盆地の一部，南部は山地。米，野菜，花卉(かき)などを産する。中心の本郷は只見線が通じ，会津本郷焼を特産，特に碍子(がいし)の生産が多い。2005年10月，大沼郡会津高田町，新鶴村と合併し町制，大沼郡会津美里町となる。40.14km²。6704人（2003）。
