Jericho Ruins

...A town in the West Bank of the Jordan River in Palestine. Population: about 16,000. Also called Jericho, or Erīḥa in Arabic. Known as the oldest town in Palestine, present-day Jericho is located about 22 km east-northeast of Jerusalem along the Jerusalem-Amman road, about 8 km north of the Dead Sea. About 1.6 km west of it is a hill where settlements have been seen since prehistoric times, and this is the town that is said to have been captured by the Israelites led by Joshua, as described in the Old Testament.
