Inakadate ruins - Inakadate ruins
A Yayoi period ruin in Inakadate Village, Minamitsugaru District, Aomori Prefecture. It is located on an alluvial plain in the Aseishi River basin in the southern part of the Tsugaru Plain. It is divided into the Inakadate District and the Tareyanagi District. When land reclamation began in 1956, local researchers discovered pottery with rice grain marks and carbonized rice, and in 1957, Ito Nobuo of Tohoku University conducted an excavation survey of the Tareyanagi District. During the excavation, an artifact-bearing layer was found under a white volcanic ash layer beneath the current rice paddies, and numerous carbonized rice and Yayoi pottery with rice grain marks were unearthed.
