Head group - Kashiragumi
A type of tekumi (hand group) of percussion instruments, a term used in Noh and Nagauta. A set of strikes and calls arranged in a set order is called a tekumi, the smallest unit that constitutes a phrase in percussion instruments, and is divided into ji-no-rui, kashiragumi-no-rui, and te-no-rui depending on its nature (purpose). Among these, the tekumi that are the foundation and the basis of rhythm are called ji-no-rui, while kashiragumi are tekumi whose purpose is to break the succession of ji in the middle and create a paragraph. Usually, only one head group called kashira is used for taiko drums, but otsuzumi drums use several types of head groups such as kosugashira, tatamugashira, and gotsugashira, and kotsuzumi drums use several types of head groups such as odorugashira, tatamugashira, and nittogashira.

能や長唄の用語で,打楽器の手組(てくみ)の一種。一定の打音と掛声とが一定の順序に配列されたものを手組といい,打楽器の楽句を構成する最小単位であるが,その性格(用途)によって,地ノ類,頭組ノ類,手ノ類などに分けられる。そのうち基礎であり,リズムの母体となる手組を〈地ノ類〉と呼ぶが,頭組は,この地の連続を途中で打ち切って段落をつけることを目的とする手組である。普通,太鼓では頭(かしら)と呼ぶ一つの頭組しか用いないが,大鼓はコス頭,タタム頭,五ッ頭など,小鼓はオドル頭,タタム頭,二ッ頭など数種の頭組を用いる。
