Born in 1804. Born in Kyoto. Studied under Kishi Ganku, was adopted and inherited the Kishi school. In 1823, he served the Arisugawanomiya family. His early decorative style changed to the milder Shijo school in his later years. His pupils included Kishi Chikudo and Kose no Shoseki. He died in 1856, aged 56. His real surname was Aoki.
