Japanese: 富良野[市] - ふらの

A city in central Hokkaido. It was incorporated as a city in 1966. It occupies the southern part of the Furano Basin and the surrounding mountainous areas. The Nemuro Main Line runs through the city, and the Furano Line branches off from it. The flat land along the Sorachi River, which flows north in the west, is used as rice paddies, and the plateaus and hills are also used as fields. Rice, onions, asparagus, grapes, lavender, carrots, and other crops are produced in the city, and dairy cows and pigs are also raised there. There is a city-run wine factory. The Furano Ski Resort is internationally famous. 600.71 ^km2 . Population 24,259 (2010).

北海道中央部の市。1966年市制。富良野盆地南部と周辺の山地を占め，根室本線が通じ，富良野線が分岐する。西部を北流する空知川沿いの平地は水田となり，台地や丘陵地にも畑が開け，米，タマネギ，アスパラガス，ブドウ，ラベンダー，ニンジンなどを産し，乳牛，豚の飼育も盛ん。市営のワイン工場がある。富良野スキー場は国際的に有名。600.71km²。２万4259人（2010）。
