Shigetou Isen

...A 1932 production by Kataoka Chiezo Productions (Chie Pro). The original story was "The Fake" by Isen Shigenori (who later became an exclusive employee of Chie Pro and wrote scripts for works by Yamanaka Sadao and Inagaki Hiroshi). It begins with the subtitle "When Bushido was past its glory," and tells the story of Kamiizumi Ise-no-kami (Takasane Sanenori), "the head of the original school of the 18 martial arts, the head of the general staff, and the Shogun's instructor," who is defeated by an impostor (Kataoka Chiezo) who uses the same name. He trains hard and challenges again, saying, "There has never been a time in history, past or present, that the real thing has been defeated by a fake," but is defeated again, and "The righteous lost to the righteous," and "The righteous do not win.
