Kashikojima

An island in Ago Bay in the central-eastern part of Mie Prefecture. It belongs to Shima City. It is 1.3 km east to west, 0.7 km north to south, and has an area of ​​0.66 square kilometers. It is separated from the mainland by a 20-meter strait, but is connected to the mainland by the Kashikojima Ohashi Bridge (a 153-meter arch bridge) and the Kintetsu Shima Line. Since 1970 (Showa 45), when Kintetsu Railway switched to a wide gauge line and express trains were connected to Osaka and Nagoya, it has become a base for tourism in Okushima. There are hotels, inns, Shima Marineland, and more. Tourist boats for tours of Ago Bay and regular ferry boats connecting the islands in the bay depart from the pier at the southern end.

三重県中東部、英虞湾(あごわん)内にある島。志摩市(しまし)に属する。東西1.3キロメートル、南北0.7キロメートル、面積0.66平方キロメートル。本土とは20メートルほどの水道で隔てられているが、賢島大橋（153メートルのアーチ橋）や近畿日本鉄道志摩線で連絡する。1970年（昭和45）近鉄の広軌化で大阪や名古屋間に特急がつながってから奥志摩観光の拠点。ホテル、旅館、志摩マリンランドなどがある。南端の船着き場からは英虞湾巡りの観光船や、湾内の島を結ぶ定期連絡船が発着する。
