...Shikada Manor had a port, and in 998 (Choutoku 4), Saeki Yoshinaga, a rudderman in the manor, was shipwrecked off the coast of Muko District, Settsu Province, while transporting 186 koku of Mimasaka rice and salt to Akishino-dera Temple, and the ship and its cargo were seized by the residents of Naganagisahama. On the east bank across the Shikada River (now Asahikawa) was the Kasuga Shrine territory of Koya-sho Manor, and a part of a drawing from the development of Koya-sho in 1300 (Shoan 2) shows that the manor was lined with private houses and had a market. In the Muromachi period, the manor suffered from invasions by local samurai such as the Matsuda, Tadokoro, and Hirai clans, and eventually became the Matsuda clan's magistrate's office, and the rule of the regent family, who held the position of head priest, and the Kofuku-ji temple, who held the position of lord, became nominal. ...
