…The secretory and gustatory nerves are sometimes called the intermedius nerves to be distinguished from the facial nerve. In this case, the seventh cranial nerve is called the intermedius facial nerve. The eighth cranial nerve is the vestibulo-cochlearis nerve, which transmits sensations from the inner ear.
